What’s Your Blog About Argentina?

I get emails almost every day from people who are visiting Argentina or about to move here. Many of these people (that is, many of you) already have or are about to start a blog. Such is the case of Katie Alley, who’s moving from Philadelphia to Necochea, Argentina, and plans to write about her experience here. If you’ve got a blog about Argentina and want others to know about it, post it here. Just go to the comments section of this post, briefly describe your blog and submit a link to it.

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to review or comment on the quality of all the blogs sent to me, but Mattyboy has an excellent list of Argie-related blogs here

BTW, if you’re into blogging and want to hear a great interview with one of the planet’s most-read bloggers, Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Dish, click here. It’s a recent NPR interview hosted by my good buddy Anthony Brooks. Brooks interviews Sullivan in a piece called “Can Bloggers Save Journalism?”

On a related note, you can read an essay Sullivan wrote for The Atlantic, “Why I blog,” here. Meanwhile, if you want to see how some of Argentina’s leading bloggers have recently talked about The Argentine Post, click here, here, here and here.

Just as you mentioned, my wife and I have moved from Atlanta to Argentina for a minimum of six months and have a blog. We are both 39 and the blog covers our preparation to move for about a month and now that we are in Buenos Aires it covers our activities while here. We are in Spanish school, so there is some belly aching about class and homework and the little victories we have learning the language and getting around in BA. We head to Bariloche in a week for two more weeks of class, then we have no idea what we will do for the remaining 5 months. We look forward to experiencing Christmas and especially New Years in Argentina. We would both like to get work here with my dream job being with Dow Jones writing about the market and economy here for those outside Argentina and my wife would love to teach riding lessons or work with a polo outfit in BA. Our blog can be found at http://www.travelingforadventure.blogspot.com. Thanks for the opportunity to get it out to others considering the trip down to this facinating city.

Hi Taos, love your blog. I live in BsAs and I write about Argentina but…in italian.
Me too, I receive almost every day emails from italian people interested in moving to argentina. I don’t know if the same thing happens to people blogging from Mexico or Brazil, but I think it’s an interesting phenomenus. It talks about the loss of satisfaction in their lifes and about the power of a dream: argentina.

bye, Tanoka

Thank you for the special mention, Taos! I think blogs are a great way to share one’s personal experiences with the world. I know I have gleaned valuable information from several blogs that I have read, plus it’s fun to get to know the writers in a virtual sense. I’ll be sure to mention some of the blogs you have listed.

Hola Taos,

Love your blog as it gives a different perspective on what’s happening from the regular media outlets. I’m an Irish expat who is married to an Argentinian lass and we moved here a year ago to take some time out and use BA as our base to travel from.

My blog has tips and info for those planning to travel to Argentina and neighbouring countries and also Central America. I also try and give a humourous perspective about life of an expat here in BA.

Nice space you’re offering to post about our own blogs. Thanks Taos.

Mine is not so much about travel or living here. It has some of that, but it is heavily leaning toward my work. I am a photojournalist working on several projects; one focuses on poverty. I use my blog to post many images, some frome inside Villa 31, others from cooperative living areas in La Boca, a comedor, BsAs at night, images from my travels south, as well as impressions and perhaps a few odd things along the way.
As the blog says ‘Unimportant Observations: of one photographer currently running around Buenos Aires’: http://www.lapelirroja.wordpress.com

Taos, nice to meet you. I think my wife Shanie did an interview with you not too long ago. I love your blog, very informative and you are quick to post about the news as it happens.

We have a blog, http://livinginpatagonia.com/. We post 6 days a week about our lives and everything about Patagonia. Suerte!

Here is my contribution in Portuguese. Re-shaping my idea of blogging whilst in Argentina. I am on the process, visitors, comments, ideas and/or any other help is welcome!

Also a Journalist, translator, lived abroad in Europe and Argentina before. Kept myself from writing a blog in my early years here to avoid first impressions. After 4 years, it is about time.

Thanks!

The link is http://cartasargentinas.com.

…4 years in a row… add 3 more years in and out of Argentina and you’ll have 7… :)

Thanks again!

Taos – like I said, I’ve been a fan for awhile. The new look is great!

My blog is http://www.discoverbuenosaires.com. It details our experiences with moving here from NYC, assimilating to the culture, and also has some tech tips to help expats. I’m a tech entrepreneur who’s running a few projects here as well as learning Spanish and exploring South America. Talk soon!

Hey Taos,
The site looks great, with the redesign and all. Check out my blog when you get a second. It is http://pinetreeparadise.blogspot.com/, a sort of diary of the funky things that happen here in Pinamar (and in Buenos Aires, when I am there for work) to my family of five. See you soon.

Excellent stuff you are writing. I’m hooked already.

My blog is Up-Starts…Buenos Aires. I mostly write about startups including my own in online tutoring, tips for expats starting a business here and opinion on the goings on in the city. I also started an after office for entrepreneurs and announce our gatherings on the blog. Hope you can make it to one! http://www.tutoramigos.blogspot.com

cheers,

Jonathan
