My guess is that he wouldn't have felt so clearly uncomfortable if he hadn't been involved in this in some way. He clearly was nervous and didn't want to get caught. If he had been fully unaware of their plans, my guess is he would have felt flattered instead of so uncomfortable. He could easily have dismissed them as genuine but overzealous fans.

Hi Chotin and Ramiro,

Very good points.

I don't have any evidence that he paid these actors to work for him. It's quite possible that they volunteered or worked for free simply because they really do support Ibarra. It's also true that Ibarra does have real fans, and there were some of them in the video. And it is at least a logical possibility that these people did this without Ibarra's knowledge (though this option seems unlikely). I've edited the text to reflect your point, which is well taken and much appreciated. I should have noticed that previously myself. Thank you.

I think it's unlikely that "clueless fans" organized this without Ibarra knowing about it. Like I said, this is a pretty minor offense in my book, though it clearly shows him to be inauthentic in a way that is cynical and depressing, in my view. It's just one more reason why so many people don't respect politicians.

It could be true that he began to feel uncomfortable about the incident because he wanted to be real and authentic and while in the middle of the act he realized how lame all of this was. I'm skeptical about this option, but it is a possibility.

In any case, if this is Ibarra's worst offense, he'd be pretty clean compared with other politicians who have done a whole lot worse.

Cheers,
Taos

something else: the inverview was after a political act, full of ibarra fan, and they followed him from there "trying to help". it makes a difference is not like they spread people in advance on the street. They started the interview after a meeting full of supporters.

The article is not accurate it says "hired", there isn't any proof of that, there wasn't any money involved. Anyway is sad to see him lying, but at the same time he feels uncomfortable.is not usual to see a politician uncomfortable while lying. And look the video at one point he explains the reporter what is happening he is just giving the radio interview excuse for the video editing, for the camera, it makes sense. What happened is that clueless fan organized that without considering the negative effect, they tried to help in a stupid way. He didn't like that and wanted to interrupt him. His PR people is completely stupid, but I think is not fair to blame him for lying when what he did was to stop the organized lie.

There is a second part of this video where Anibal Ibarra says that his followers are to blame!! This is the same guy who said he didn't know BA had a traffic problems (especially during rush hours) because he was used to wake up at midday.. When I see this kind of things I think that the politicians are not to blame for all the things we have to go through... the problem here is our society, our people, us.
