Ahhchoo!Argentina has 45 possible swine flu cases being tested for confirmation, up from 29 on Sunday, the Health Ministry said in a statement Monday night. So far Argentina has had zero confirmed swine flu cases.

If you’re curious, the number of confirmed dengue cases totaled 22,417 by Monday, according to the Ministry. About 82% of those were found in just two provinces: Chaco and Catamarca.

Some 2,124 cases were confirmed in Salta and just one in Misiones, meaning, presumably, there’s little reason to not visit Iguazu if that’s something you’re considering.

Went to Iguazu last week and didn’t seen any mosquitoes – they were spraying there pretty agressivly as it seems

Hey Patrick,

That’s good to hear. I’m thinking about taking my dad there later this month.

Hey Taos, I wouldn’t really put too much faith in official government figures Would you? Beware and take all precautions if you are travelling there. If you do, have a great time!

taos says:

Hey Pete,

You have a good point. Dengue specialists outside the government say the number of actual dengue cases is probably about three times that admitted by the government, though these specialists attribute this discrepancy not to mendacity but rather because of an inadequate infrastructure that makes it hard for the government to keep up with reality. Who knows.

Whatever the case, it’s probably a good idea to use a lot of “Off” while up north.

Saludos,
Taos
