I'm not a ski guy. but if you are looking for a long term snow ski resort you should try Cerro Castor in Ushuaia.
Cheers,

Jamie, In the last two months, more people have died in car accidents than the amount of people that have died of A flu so far. Does this ring you a bell?

Please update with reports on snow conditions at Catedral, and elsewhere in Argentina if you can. Very helpful for us planning trips. How's swine flu scare affecting things?

Evidently different place are operated...well...differently? Clearly, Argentina is a bit behind in technological development and applications, but skiers do not consider this an impediment. We do not visit these places for the equipment or the shopping. Contrary to popular culture, true skiers count on mother nature to give us the opportunity and pleasure to experience the sport. Personally, I have tackled some of the finest--and most expensive and technologically advances, if you absolutely must take this into consideration--and I consider Chamonix and Bariloche (anywhere) a very close second. Comfort has nothing at all to do with any sport you do. Incidentally, about the same percentage of the Argentinean population (32 million) as the American population (300+ million) ski. Neither come remotely close to the Europeans. One thing is clear to me--having done this for nearly forty years--Bariloche's weather has changed dramatically...and not in favor of skiers.
